My Floating Journey

    About the author

My name is Adarino Hadley, and I am a Pohnpeian by birth. I was born on a little Island of Pohnpei called Dolehtik and was raised in Diadi, a little village in Kitti known for “Siokara,” a family of clams marinated and preserved in bottles for eating. I have four brothers and four sisters, and I was the second eldest among my siblings. I am married and blessed with three children one girl and two boys. My wife's name is Mihna Celestine Hadley; my daughter is Vyra Hadley; my two sons are Adarino Junior Hadley and Jordan AV Hadley.

I attended Elementary School at Wenik/Rohnkitti Elementary School, now called Nanbei Memorial Elementary School, and graduated in May 1994. I decided to go to Xavier High School, but my family didn't allow me to, so I attended Pohnpei Island Central High School (PICS). I graduated and received my diploma in May of 1998. Again, I wanted to go to Hilo and attend College there, but no one could help me with my application, so I went to the College of Micronesia FSM (C.O.M) instead. When I first enrolled at C.O.M. I was undecided about my major, so I chose Liberal Arts. At that time, C.O.M and the University of Guam (UOG) partnered up with the Bachelor of Arts in Education program, so I decided to join the program and change my major to Liberal Arts Education so I could go smoothly into the program. I completed my associate of arts degree in the year 2000 and joined their third-year program so I could automatically be enrolled in the BA program. I finished the third year after two semesters and was finally accepted into the BA program. I completed all the requirements in 2002 and graduated in May 2002. We were the second graduating class that completed the program. I will try my best because we will also be the second team to take the PACMED program.

I started working for PICS High School in May 2003 as a resource teacher for Special Education. In the summer of 2004, I attended a workshop in Kosrae State entitled Banana Propagation and Planting when I returned the Director told me that I could go and join the Agriculture Department because I already had experience in agriculture, so they changed my action to Classroom Teacher for Vocational, and I finally went and start teaching Agriculture classes. In the summer of 2009, I took my adopted son to his parents in Guam and decided to stay for a while and find work I applied for teaching, but it was hard, so I looked for other jobs and ended up at a tire shop in Yigo Guam and work there for four years until I return to Pohnpei in 2014. I re-applied for teaching, but the principal at that time was very mad at me because I did not turn in my resignation letter, so he did not hire me back. I looked for other job opportunities and was accepted at the XIX store as a delivery driver delivering goods or Items all around the Island. Finally, I was rehired for teaching in May 2015, and I have been teaching Agriculture classes since. Now I have an opportunity to attend a master's Program, so I am now enrolled in the program.

Select and describe two of the collaboration tools presented in class: The two collaborative tools that I like are Google Forms and Google Sheets. Google Forms can help me create classwork, tests, and quizzes for my students because our textbooks do not include teacher guides or student workbooks. I can create a simple and easy-to-use tool for my class or students. For Google Sheets, I can create worksheets to use for my Master's Grade Sheet (MGS ) when it comes to grading at the end of the quarter, and I can also help my colleagues with the Google sheet for their grades. Share 2 benefits of using the tool in your current role or job: One benefit of using these two tools it will make my work easier and faster. This will also help people who will teach my subject to have a smooth teaching because all the resources will be provided and ready to use. Another benefit that I see is that it will make learning for the students easier and smoother, and will make creating lesson plans...

Here are the two videos https://youtu.be/MBYlRmUurJ8 I learned how to make students come to school by following the CRSSP (Choice, Relevance, Strength, Specific, and Passion). If you follow the CRSSP, it will make students motivated and willing to learn. Watching the movie gives me an idea of how to make my students come to school every day and be willing to learn. If a teacher follows the CRSSP with the passion to make students succeed, then it will make learning fun and enjoyable   https://youtu.be/UCFg9bcW7Bk For this movie, it is almost the same as the first, but they have different ideas. This has to do with the 6 C's (Choice, Collaboration, Communication, Critical thinking, Creativity, and Caring). If you follow the 6 C's, it will make your classroom a wonderful and successful classroom, and students will be willing and motivated to learn. By watching this video, I think that I can apply some of his methods of teaching in my class. And his ideas are really great for a cla...

List your 3 biggest takeaways from the readings.        First , learning styles if we study the learning styles, it will make learning fun and engaging. I found out that different people learn differently according to the movie visual, Auditory, reading, and writing, and Kinesthetic (VARK) it can help people find out what type of learners they are, and then we can work from that. I also found out that students have a dominant modality, but some prefer other modalities when they learn. This is an important lesson for us teachers, so we can try to understand our students and try to meet their needs.      The second takeaway is using the three phases of the learning process, which are before training, where you activate prior knowledge, or something similar to the first phase. The first phase has to do with reminding the person of the skill they learned before. For example, if you are teaching them how to plant seeds, you will try to remind...
